County finds remote site for sheriff training center
Henderson County officials identified land in an extremely remote location for a new law enforcement training center, scrapping an indoor $20 million BRCC facility. The plan envisions a $3.66 million outdoor range and indoor training space with total costs of 4.3 to 5.9 million, funded by cash. The move lowers costs by about 22 million and keeps the center away from Blue Ridge Community College, with broader use by local agencies and potential future 911 backup use. Local groups welcomed the savings. no public opposition noted as the plan proceeds.
