Hendersonville leaders unite to tackle opioid crisis after Dreamland forum
About 90 community leaders from Henderson County gathered at Blue Ridge Community College to plan a coordinated response to opioid abuse. The event featured a Dreamland author talk, a candlelight vigil, and a pledge to break down silos across law enforcement, emergency management, government, medicine, and nonprofits. The forum highlighted a $2.5 million sheriff’s department cost from 2015–2017 and led to creating a blue-ribbon committee to recommend steps against pills and heroin.
