V P W Official Held For Murder Of Successor
In San Francisco Harry E Barton a Veterans of Foreign Wars official walked into a VFW meeting and killed Carey Smith Conner the man who had succeeded him as district commander. Barton appeared in municipal court and his case was continued to Sept 14. Barton claimed Conner had forced his wife from her VFW job and made disparaging remarks about him, prompting the fatal shooting after a planned talk. Conner died at San Francisco Hospital from chest stomach and limb wounds after Barton fired five shots and then a second gun was drawn.

The aircraft picked up the patient at Williams Field and was due at Rochester late today with crew including Bonnet Selmeider Kesselman Clark and pilot Gant.

He admits taking a 15 year old Hayward ward to Portland and marrying her. Fuller was apprehended August 29 after disappearing August 10 with the girl, who was his office worker. Preliminary hearing set for September 13. bail is 2500.

Complaint Filed Against Seaman Dell Nailling Hit-Run Driver
A complaint charging Dell Nailling, 46, seaman, with hit-and-run and drunken driving was signed by Sgt. Edward Doyle of the Hayward Highway Patrol and filed in Centerville justice court. Nailling allegedly struck three Mexican nationals near Bailey's Mission camp on Mission San Jose highway. He was found asleep in his car with damage and blood on the hood. Injured were Antonin Heredia Zarte, 22, Henriquez Jose Paz, 22, and Enrique Vega Paz, 24, rushed to Fairmont Hospital with broken legs. Nailling remains in custody with bail not set.

California Car in Murder Case Sighting Near Albuquerque Beach
Police seek a California automobile and two occupants after two unidentified bodies, a woman about 35 and a 20 month old boy, were found drowned near Conservancy Beach. The car was seen in an Albuquerque parking lot with a man and a woman arguing inside. Investigators reported no missing persons in the area. the woman near the beach is not the same as the one linked to the car earlier. The boy died about six hours before discovery.
