Nine occupants in two cars sustained minor injuries in a head-on collision yesterday afternoon on Highway 50 a half mile east of Tussajars Road. J W Kirkendall 52 Bell lost control and struck Manuel Serrata 4 Tracy causing Serrata to run off the road. Mrs Kirkendall 42 was taken to Shoemaker hospital. Sailor Free Popcorn Mishap at Local Drugstore Machine
A Gamp Shoemaker sailor tried to grab free popcorn from a machine outside a Hayward drugstore at B and Castro Sis. His hand got stuck in the popcorn hole and he was freed by Officer G. E. Anderson with a screwdriver. The incident caused embarrassment and the sailor was later released.
