Two Injured In Auto Crash At Pergola Hill
Early this morning a car traveling about 70 mph clipped the left front fender of another vehicle and plunged into a ditch at Pergola Hill. Sailor Robert C Williams of the U S S Lindsay and June Towel, 19, of Pomona, were injured. Williams at Oak Knoll Hospital with a fractured left leg. Towel sustained extensive facial lacerations, a fractured right arm, and upper right arm cuts. The other driver, George Lawrence, storekeeper 3/c, of Treasure Island, fled west on Highway 50 after colliding with Betty Jean Roderick, 24, of Cull Canyon, who was driving another car and could do nothing to avoid the crash.
