An acre with a 50 year old box hedge houses rookeries a fish pond and many plants including fruit trees and flowering varieties. Tourists visit it often. Mrs. Ames collects flowers with geraniums seven feet tall. Sweet peas displayed at an Oakland flower show won a prize and her blooms earned awards at the Hayward show.

Double inquest under way into two deaths in Oakland
A double inquest is being held by Coroner Grant D. Miller in Oakland into the deaths of Howard Costar of Westwood and Robert Clark, 19, of San Francisco. Clark died when his car hit two other vehicles in Dublin canyon. Costar was struck two weeks earlier by a car driven by Chester B. Nash of Oakland, who has been released with no charges filed. A civil suit for damages is reported against Nash by Costar’s family. An inquest into Lipman Leon’s crossing accident death will be held in Oakland Friday morning.
