Joseph T Sims Hayward Lions Club president will give the main address assisted by Legion bands and veterans groups. Graves decoration by auxiliaries and Native Sons groups follows, with taps closing remarks by Captain Clyde Voorhees.

Fire Destroys Big Barn at Tennyson
A fire at 11 o'clock today destroyed an implement barn at the M Stromberg home on Tennyson road. Several machines, plows and cultivators were lost, with total damage about 800 dollars and little flurrance. Castro-Valley fire department led by Chief Lehwan arrived with chemical apparatus and completed mopping up work.

87 Students to Get Diplomas at Graduation Events
In June 1987 Harvard union high school will award diplomas to 87 seniors, 49 girls and 38 boys, with ceremonies starting at 8 o clock. San Jose Teachers' College president T W McQuarrie is the commencement speaker. Bret Harte school will confer diplomas to 103 pupils, 39 girls and 44 boys, on June 5, with Washingtons Grammar School Alameda principal Arthur Hesche delivering the speech and Ruth Carr delivering the outgoing class talk.

Bret Harte Girls Defeat Alameda County Champions 10 to 7
The Bret Harte school girls baseball team beat Washington grammar school of Alameda 10 to 7 in seven innings on Tuesday. Alameda girls had claimed Alameda County champions. Coaches Misa Meyer and Mrs H M Sorensen led the Bret Harte squad which has not been defeated in three years.

Wilbur Named New Chairman of Plan Board
Former Mayor John Lee Wilbur was elected chairman and Harry Bradford secretary of the city planning commission at its reorganizational meeting. Fire Chief Manuel G. Riggs was tasked to locate a playground site near Watkins and Atherton streets amid traffic and truck activity. The panel discussed sites and urged council action, noting two playgrounds already in operation near Eden Congregational church and the Review’s demonstration home. Regular monthly meetings were set, with the first Tuesday of each month, the next in July. Other members include G W White, Jesse B Holly, Mrs. William T Knightly, and Mrs. George Kavanagh.

Rock wrecks lawn at state penitentiary in Canon City
A rock slide from a fifty ton boulder tore a six foot deep and hundred foot long gash in the terrace gardens of the Colorado State Penitentiary at Canon City. No injuries were reported though several people stood nearby.

Former Guard Officer Henry A. Hanningan Dies at Fort Warren
Col Henry A Hanningan commanding First United States Infantry at Fort Francis E Warren Wyoming died Tuesday morning. He formerly instructed Company H Fifth California Infantry at Hayward and mustered the unit into federal service in June 1916 on the Mexican border. An original regular army officer, he served in the Philippines and later held special duty in Los Angeles. Burial is in Raymond California per Fort Warren dispatches.
