A. Ueyedrold Magnart youth is held for arson inquiry by sheriff’s officers after a second fire at 188 Orchard Avenue last night. Richard Sellapfer, 15, staying with Mary Marshall at Orchard Street, was present when flames gutted the attic. The house damage is estimated between $200 and $5000, and a barn at the rear of the property also burned Tuesday night.
At the Castro Valley avn Bureau center W J Newton UC poultry expert urged poultrymen to heavily mull laying flocks to stretch scarce feed. He cautioned that 200 egg hens use 80 to 45 pounds yearly and 120 egg hens about 75 pounds, proposing turnover to improve egg quality and supply.
