100 Acre Fire Spreads in East Oakland
A grass fire near Carlson Street and Maple Avenue in East Oakland scorched about 100 acres today starting from a picnic campfire. No property damage occurred as firefighters contained the blaze in an hour. Berkeley resident Miss Helen Rudel was burned while helping fight a second brush fire near the P G and E substation.

Six injured in city auto collision at A Street Telegraph Road
Six people were injured when two cars driven by W Norton of Berkeley and Manuel Texeira of Oakland collided at A Street and Telegraph Road Sunday evening, both vehicles striking a telephone pole. Injured include Mr and Mrs Norton, their small daughter, and Mr and Mrs Texeira with their young son.

Hayward Man Catches Thief In Midway Break‑in
Dan Laughlin of Hayward, foreman, chased a thief who stole about $59 worth of food and clothing from the Western Pacific section house at Midway last Wednesday night. Laughlin pursued across a field and caught the Mexican resident of Tracy with the loot, after notifying Livermore police.
