James Wt. Farrelly, chief electrician's mate at Camp Shoemaker, died Friday at Shoemaker Naval hospital from injuries from a Thursday night automobile crash at the Highway 60 Santa Rita end intersection. His car plunged through a grand rail. another vehicle was involved. Naval authorities investigated. Farrelly served in the Navy since 1927 and had been stationed at Shoemaker about two years.

Two children Charles Roger Ballard aged 5 and Ziennie Morris Ballard aged 6 from California Hotel Oakland were injured when the rear car door opened and they fell onto the pavement on U S Highway 50 near Bohlmer Hill shortly after 9:30 p m Sunday. Driver Mrs Elizabeth Achela 30 of 3380 Army Street San Francisco was at the wheel and they were treated at Fairmont Hospital.

Huge B‑29 raid on Tokyo leaves city aflame
Allied bombers pounded Tokyo and Kawasaki with enormous incendiary and explosive loads, blackening the capital and igniting vast fires.
