Immigrant Laws Bar Titled Women From Return Home

Under quotas, many face extended stays overseas, with some possibly barred from admission for a year or more. The Epworth League Class of the M. E. Church enjoyed a pleasant gathering on the Morgan lawn in Hayti Friday evening. Chamber of Commerce Endorses Bond Issue in Regular Meeting

The Chamber endorsed calling a special election to issue additional bonds for the Hayti Special Road District. Plans to display local products in St Louis Union Station were approved. Mayor Kilks spoke on the city water works plant and the group adjourned to August 1. A local ball game in Coffeeville, Kansas prompted a humorous exchange about the score.

Circuit Court Proceedings in July 1921 Trial Session

Circuit court convened July 18 1921 by order of Judge Sterling H McCarty to hear felony and in jail cases and civil matters via stipulations. Guilty pleas and sentences include Tull eight 100 fines Hammond two years Wright five years Kelley five years plus. Several other defendants discharged or moved to next term. a jury verdict later found not guilty in Burns case after prior reversals. Nearby items note visiting relatives and a lost pair of glasses with a $1 reward.
