A church sermon on Jesus as the Door to salvation cites John 10 9 Luke 18 and Luke 18. The preacher urges faith in Christ as access to God and warns against wealth and worldly concern blocking the spiritual path.
President Johnson proclaimed Memorial Day as a national day of prayer for peace urging all Americans to join in supplication for the safety of service members and for a world of freedom and justice. The proclamation sets May 30 as the designated day with 11 a.m. local observances.

An Ingram lecture on Stewardship was announced for June 4 from 7 to 9 pm at Ingram Presbyterian Church. Bible study on Philippians discussed by Mrs Pa Be and Mrs Pete Whitworth assisted.
Funeral services for Mrs Theodore Wahrmund 91 were held at Schaetter Funeral Chapel and St Marys Church with Rev Harold Ehlinger presiding. She was born March 41 176 in Mason County Texas daughter of August and Marie Keyles Atcher and survived by daughter Ida Klein of Fredericksburg grandchildren great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband Charlie Wahrmund and son. she left a half brother and half sister both of Fredericksburg.
Church notices invite parishioners to attend Masses at 7 30 and 9 o clock on Sunday Mary 28. A school of religion for children is listed. Friday June 2 offers 7 30 am and 8 pm Masses. Saturday June 3 Mass at 7 50 am followed by meditation after Mass.
Church notices list Rev. Charles Price of First Baptist Church with Sunday School at 10 am and Worship at 11 am plus an evening service. Harper United Presbyterian invites worship and a Catholic church welcomes all to walk in and attend services.
Dr. Horace M. King pastorates the Methodist Church and announces a monthly meeting schedule with the Official Board on the first Tuesday at 7 00 p m and Harper Circle of the Woman s Society of Christian Service gathering at 2 30 p m.

Perker pastor leads Bible study Wednesday at 8 00 pm Sunday school at 10 00 am and morning worship at 11 00 am Evangelistic service at 800 pm all are invited Wayne Rogers Sunday School Superintendent lists 10 00 am Sunday School Women's Association meets the third Wednesday at 800 pm Interment as noted in St Marys cemetery.
Pastor W E Doerr invites all to attend Sunday School at 9 30 a m Adult Bible Class at 10 30 a m and the worship service at 10 30 a m on Sunday May 28.
St. James Church announces Vacation Bible School beginning Monday May 29 and ending Friday June 9. Classes run 8 30 a m to 11 00 a m daily with the theme Living In Gods Kingdom Elmer Lange serves as chairman.
Public invited to Memorial Day observance Tuesday at Legion Hall in Fredericksburg led by Louis Jordan Post 244 and affiliated veterans groups. Guest speaker Chaplain Lehne, a WWI veteran and St John Lutheran pastor, will address tribute to fallen and serving service members.
Nathan John Wendel eight son of Pastor Rudy and Florine Wendel of Boyden Iowa died Thursday at St Joseph Hospital Sioux City after brain tumor surgery. He was born November 19 19 95 in Addis Ababa Ethiopia and lived in Boyden and Fredericksburg. Survived by parents sister Naomi and brother Mark Willkan and many relatives. Body lay in Beckmann funeral Chapel then Zion Lutheran Church service conducted with sponsors Pastors Rode Gaskimp Menking and Winters. Interment in Cherry Spring Lutheran Cemetery.
In Austin on May 2 Colonel Morris S Schwartz state Selective Service director announced that 975 men will be drafted for June. He compared June quotas to 885 in May 675 in April 761 in March 674 in February and 1,110 in January. Local boards will forward about 4,000 men for pre induction examination in June with 3,000 scheduled for May.
The Ingram Presbyterian Church extends a cordial invitation to attend worship at 9 a.m. on Sundays and Sunday School at 10 a.m. to anyone who desires to participate in services.
The May 10 mailing targets pre induction examinations and local board assignments as Texas carries a June quota of 975 for the national draft program.
