Ace Reid to Ramrod Bicentennial Trail Drive to Lubbock

Nationally known cowboy cartoonist Ace Reid joins the Texas Tech Bicentennial Trail Drive from San Antonio to Lubbock. The six day event runs June 27 to July 2 with a herd of 70 Texas Longhorns, stops in Kerrville San Angelo Stamford and Midland, ending at the Ranching Heritage Center at Texas Tech University for opening ceremonies. Reid, creator of Cowpokes, has a long history with trail drives and popular cartoons. Trail Boss Chas Schreiner III of the YO Ranch leads the trek and invites helpers via the YO Ranch address or 512-640-3222.

Bell Ringers Benefit Mental Health Drive Led by Rev Gitter

Harper raised 227.30 in a May drive for the Texas Association for Mental Health. Bellringer workers went house to house during Mental Health Month to support the nonprofit aiding the emotionally disturbed and their families. Revival Days at First Baptist Church in Harper

Revival planned for June 20 to 27 at First Baptist Church Harper with 8 p.m. weekday services Monday through Saturday. Harper Float Wins at Junction and Class Reunion Planned

The Harper Community Float won first place in the out of town division at Junction. Harper High School Class of 1956 will hold its first reunion since graduation on Sunday June 20 at the VFW Hall in Fredericksburg, with details arranged by Mrs. Al Armstrong and James Wallendorf. Gillespie Court OKs Ranch Road 3348 bypass plan east of Fredericksburg

Gillespie County Commissioners Court unanimously approved State plans for Ranch Road 3348 forming the first link in a Fredericksburg bypass. The 2.2 mile east side segment will use state and federal funds, with later expansion possible to 1.8 miles to connect Goehmann Lane with U S 200 east. A public hearing will be announced by the Texas State Highway Department.

He signed temporary injunctions in a pending divorce and a 1972 divorce modification to be heard June 16. A personal injury suit Borchers vs Northwest National Bank and Maxey prompted a show cause order for a writ of sequestration to be heard June 15. A rape case and an probation revocation matter were set for June 15 and 16, with Grand Jury reconvening June 16 for a continuing investigation.
