Mroseks Celebrate 45th Wedding Anniversary at Harper Hall

Gillespie Democrats Cast 104 Votes In Runoff Election

Gillespie County voters cast 104 ballots on Saturday in a Democratic primary runoff at the Courthouse from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jon Newton led county tallies with 75 votes plus six absentees for 81 total, Jerry Sadler had 19 on election day and one absentee for 20. In the unexpired term for Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals the county split 51 for W. T. Phillips and 49 for Carl Dally. National totals showed Newton 167,383 to Sadler 69,925, Phillips leading Dally by 100,396. The Democratic nominees face Republicans in the November 2, 1976 general election.

Charles R Bierschwale 91 Dies in Kerrville Nursing Home

Charles Ray Bierschwale age 91 of Harper died early Saturday May 29 at Colonial Nursing Home in Kerrville where he had lived since February Funeral services were held May 31 at Harper United Methodist Church with burial in Harper Cemetery He was born February 15 1885 in Kendall County a Hill Country rancher and married Emily Ellebracht on September 1 1920 Survivors include daughter Pauline Parker two brothers Floyd Bierschwale Albert Bierschwale and sister Ethyl Houghes A number of relatives attended the services and visitors were noted from Alabama and other towns including Ralph Griffin and Rose Fairchild Fairchild a 1941 Harper High School graduate was previously known as Mrs J M Scarborough

Bloodmobile Visit Draws Gillespie County Support

The Red Cross Blood mobile returns March 3 to Bethany Lutheran Church basement from 1 to 7 p.m. Dennis Hannemann says 120 pints are targeted, with 33 pints still needed after 87 pints donated in the first drive. Volunteers led by Mrs Leo Itz will assist. donors aged 17 to 69 in good health may participate at 106 West Austin Street.

Kimble County Centennial Celebration Opens in Junction

Centennial events run June 11 to 20 in Kimble County with a historical pageant, fashion show titled The History of Fashion, and various family and community activities. Notables include Ella Bolt Whitworth directing the pageant and Mrs Art Mudge guiding the style show, plus a special appearance by former U S Representative OC Fisher.
