Rancher Ahrens Hovers Between Life and Death After Drowning Rescue
White Oak rancher Arthur Ahrens nearly drowned when a collapsible lawn chair sent him into a 10 foot drop at the Cyrus Heard Ranch near Doss Mason County. His 15 year old daughter Arlene dove in and pulled him to shore saving his life. Becker, who could not swim, nearly drowned trying to assist. Ahrens recovered after five days in hospital and Arlene, a FHS band member, is entering sophomore year.
