Beatrice Morosco guides a journey to celebrate seven New Years across the Orient. From Australia on January first to Java and its varied New Year customs on February eighth, she notes Japanese, Chinese, and Javanese rituals, temple visits, and family traditions surrounding the kitchen god.

Mesc A C Wendel and Fred Garamenthaler were seen shopping in Kerrville on Saturday. Lemuel Jones and his children visited relatives in Copperas Cove on the same day.
The Radio Post will sponsor the 27th annual Lions Club Community Christmas program via KNAF with a one and a half hour recording. Norbert Fritz, KNAF manager, will host the rebroadcast on Christmas Day at 3 p.m. The program features songs by church and school choirs and Fredericksburg high school band.

The Harper Herald announces it will skip next week's issue unless unforeseen developments change plans. This marks the Christmas edition and final issue of the year expressing thanks to readers in Harper and nearby towns.
Dr and Mrs Walter J Goerner of Bethlehem Pennsylvania send a Christmas greeting from their home. The note highlights festive decorations across Bethlehem including a giant tree built from many smaller trees and a lit electric cross and star shining over the city. The couple discuss Mrs Goerner's improving health, daily church and Bible work, and the pastor's ongoing historical research on early German families in Pennsylvania and Waldensian church sources.
Clayton Kneese remains in Legion hospital on a weekend pass with his wife and children as visits spread across area families. Christmas guests include Pete Whitworths and kin from A&I College and San Antonio, plus Doole and Stubbs connections. Students home for the holidays range from Texas University to Durham Business College with church and social events noted.
A Christmas tree program and screening of the picture The Guiding Star took place Sunday night at the Presbyterian Church with Supt Culbert Anderagg in charge of arrangements.
The Presbyterian Women's Association met Thursday afternoon at the Manse with Mrs. J. R. Peril presiding. Mrs. H. L. Stevans led devotional and program and named hostesses. Installation of officers was postponed due to Mrs. Harold Schmidt's illness. The group filed Christmas bags for children. Refreshments served to twelve members.
