Doolittle commends Bierschwale of Eighth Air Force station

Major General James H. Doolittle commends Staff Sergeant Frederick Bierschwale of Harper Texas for aiding the 357th Fighter Group’s pilots near Berlin. The unit’s teamwork with ground crews helped the 357th reach unprecedented fighter ace marks, with 56 Luftwaffe interceptors downed and one destroyed on the ground in a single day. Bierschwale, a station armament clerk and former refrigeration mechanic, enlisted October 6 1942 and has served in Wyoming New York Nevada and California before joining the European Theatre of Operations.

Luther League Honors John Honig With Social

The Luther League held a social at the Parish Hall Sunday night honoring J. Honig. The program included hymns What a Friend We Have in Jesus and Onward Christian Soldiers, scripture Acts 2:37-42, meditation by Adela Wendel, prayers by Mrs. Hubert Rahe, and the Lord's Prayer. Refreshments followed before a closing hymn Abide in Him and God Will Take Care of You. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hopf visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alf Kott, Monday.

Kaiser Diamond Wedding Anniversary Noted at Harper Home

Mrs. Martha Jung Kaiser and William Kaiser marked their diamond wedding at their Harper residence last Friday.
