Central Texas Electric Meeting in Llano August 17

Central Texas Electric Cooperative will hold its annual membership meeting at Llano Community Center on Tuesday August 17 at 745 p.m. W C McWilliams manager says the event will present current and future electric conditions plus reports from President Elmer Bierschwabe and secretary treasurer E Dean Hopf. The meeting will feature a guest from Lower Colorado River Authority and include board elections and employee service awards. Free refreshments and attendance prizes are planned.

Hand Painted Western Art on Shirts by Ronald McGuffin

Western artist Ronald McGuffin from Junction now in Harper Texas will visit THE WESTERN SHOP for three days August 12 13 14. He will paint shirts with Western scenes as part of the Big 16th Anniversary. McGuffin has murals around Hill Country and has painted at Ruidoso Downs New Mexico. Harper Community Park Clean Up Day Planned

The Harper Community Park Board schedules an all day cleanup at the Park on Saturday August 14. Volunteers are urged to bring rakes hoes and instruments and spend the day helping before the Labor Day Rodeo. The Sageser Haas Post 650 and Ladies Auxillary met August 5 and set a Barbecue Supper for September 11 at 6 p.m. at the Park with Boys and Girls State reports to be given.

Harper Labor Day Parade Plans for 1976 Rodeo

Harper Frontier Rodeo committee gears up for Labor Day weekend events including parade and barbecue on September 4 1976. Milton J. Wendel reports invitations sent to communities organizations firms and individuals to enter floats cars bands and more. Citizens urged to get in touch to participate.

Harper School Parade Lineup and Route Details

The text notes parade lineup for judging on the street west of Harper school near the road to the football gridiron starting around 3 p.m. The parade begins at 4 p.m. and travels up Harper Main Street toward the Lutheran Church corner. Frontier Day Parade Planned in Harper With Rodeo and Dance

The Harper celebration will host a parade and rodeo with dressing rooms for all including duchesses and queens. Wendel notes indications of another successful Frontier Day with barbecue and a dance that night. Chairmen Marvin Raz and Bull Beard lead rodeo events with many committee members assisting for rodeo barbecue dance and parade inviting everyone.

Harper School set to open Monday with new superintendent

The Harper Independent School District plans to open the Harper public school system on Monday morning August 16 with buses on regular routes and meals served in the Cafetorium. The 1976-77 term starts at 8 10 a.m. Kindergarten registers, all new students bring medical records, and early dismissals are scheduled on certain Fridays and holidays. Charles C Larrison Jr is named superintendent, replacing El bert Schmidt. many veteran and new teachers are listed along with bus routes and staff.
