Great Plains Conservation Act Reaches 20 Years
The Great Plains Conservation Act, signed by President Eisenhower on August 7, 1956, marks its 20th anniversary this month. Since passage, over 50,000 farmers and ranchers in 10 states have entered long term conservation contracts with the U S Department of Agriculture to improve conservation on every acre of their farm or ranch.

Herbie Oehler Sells Angora Buck for $900 at Sale
At the Texas Angora Goat Raisers Association auction in Rocksprings, W. V. Horton of Goldthwaite paid $900 for Herbie Oehler’s champion sale buck. Other top bids included $650 for a C. H. Chaney buck and $500 for the reserve champ. A total of 119 of 140 bucks sold for an average of $202.31. top 20 averaged $342.75, and the 26 does averaged $99.23.
