The Boyer County Basketball Tournament at Iowa Falls concluded with Towa Falls defeating Eldora 27–15 in the finals. Ian Smith of Des Moines officiated. Sectional play at Webster City features Eldora vs Story City Friday at 9 30. Pre Sub-District results include Eldora sweeping first places. the Sub-District contest is next Friday. Public notices include foreclosure chatter on Fairgrounds and an Odd Fellows dance at the Mable 0 F hall with a Red Cross nurse report forthcoming.

Tax Bill Is Made a Law Passed by President Coolidge Friday
The tax reduction bill became law when President Coolidge approved it Friday morning delaying signing due to Senator Simmon’s late arrival. Two pens marked the signature. one given to Representative Greenland and the other to Senator Smoot. Most provisions take effect immediately except auto and theatre taxes which start in 30 days. The bill lowers income taxes to the lowest level since WWI, broadens personal exemptions, reduces rates, repeals many excise taxes, and creates a new small levy on cereals. The inheritance and gift taxes are changed, with the only new tax a one tenth of a cent per gallon levy on alcoholic beverages. The income tax cuts apply to payments due March 16.
