Eldora High basketball beat Grundy Center 39 to 21 as P M Brown Frances White and Carl Nelson led scoring. Eldora also defeated Helle Plaine 18 to 12 in a matchup played in a small gym. Girls lost to Grundy Center 32 to 11. Hardin County Girls Tournament set for Saturday with Jus James refereeing.

J 1 Wein of Hubbard dropped money in the till of The Old Thing for a year in advance during a Monday call. He came to the county in 1882 and recalls a November blizzard and a winter unlike this one. He helped break raw prairie, once had a horse kick his nose, but keeps going with a simple philosophy. He has never driven a car and has pulled a yoke of oxen across the prairie many times.
