Return of Cpl James L Wallis to Eldora for burial
Mr and Mrs Paul Wallis Eldora received word from the Army that their son Cpl James L Wallis killed in Korea around July 20 1950 will be returned to the United States for burial. He is to be buried in the Eldora Cemetery with funeral services at the Congregational church. He landed in Korea July 6 1950 and died after 14 days service. He was 21 turning 22 and a 1949 Eldora High School graduate.

Ten acres of corn averaging 60 bushels per acre were picked by Eldora farmer Frank Gonner and received at the Steamboat Rock Pot Goter Elevator. The Pfister Hybrid corn, in good condition with 20 percent moisture, was harvested about two miles north of Eldora. Henry Sinning operates the farm.

Funeral services for Leo D. Freed were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 from Ives ter church with Rev. Charles Albin officiating. Burial followed in Sheller cemetery. He was born February 15, 1899, son of George W. and Ida Meyers Freed, lifelong Grundy and Hardin county resident, died Sunday evening after a long illness. He married Mabel Danger on December 16, 1919, and is survived by five children, Harry, Ida Marie, Genevieve, Dale, and Lynn, plus nine grandchildren and a brother, Robert. Pallbearers named.

Capture Of Pair Solves Weekend Crimes
Two training school youths from Des Moines, Gilbert Stotler and Alfred Angove, were captured near Casey on Tuesday after escaping Saturday with a third companion. Marshall County authorities hold them on car theft and breaking and entering charges, with a sequence of alleged weekend thefts linked to the arrests. The group reportedly hit homes and seized vehicles across Marshall, Hardin, and nearby counties, with one vehicle found abandoned in a ditch near Whitten and others traced to Conrad and Marshalltown. The Leaf car was in their possession when arrested.

Merger Tuesday Adds 12 Sections To Eldora District
Voters approved the consolidation of Eldora with five rural districts Pleasant number 2 3 Jackson number 8 Melrose number 3 and Eldora district gained 12 land sections bringing total to 38. The new Community School District of Eldora will take effect May 1 1954 with tuition rules unchanged for students attending out of district and a shifted tax load funding next year. No objections were filed and margins varied from tight to unanimous across districts.
