Granzow Couple Mark 60 Years Of Marriage
Mr and Mrs John Granzow celebrate their sixtieth anniversary with an open house at Eldora and a church dinner for about sixty relatives. The pair wed March 22 1893 in Eldora with Rev Carl Guenther officiating. They raised four daughters and three sons near Eldora and now reside on South Washington Street. The event featured a long program with piano solos poems and readings by grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Hardin County Farm Bureau Women’s committee met March 17 in the extension office with 22 attendees. Chairwoman Mrs. Lester Kaufman led the session. They outlined the Rural Women’s Day event set for May 5 at 8 p.m. in Owasa with guest speaker Herb Plambeck of WHO and family friendly activities. Booths will display year’s work. Jackson Ellis Clay and Pleasant townships will handle refreshments. Mrs. Emery Lake, Mrs. Bob Shotanus, and Mrs. Milton Schwinger planned the program. Extensionist Mrs. Gilter spoke on a proposed “Our Neighbors Near and Far” program, to start in October for rural and urban women, with a motion to sponsor. Beulah Heldt of Steam Boat Rock was named scholarship candidate. Refreshments were provided by Hardin township.
