After a washout near Geneva Tuesday morning the M and St L railroad canceled motor trains north of Marshalltown for two days hampering mail delivery. Eldora Chamber of Commerce organized transport for post office staffer Werder Tresemer to Marshalltown to fetch Eldora mail, aiding the Herald-Index with timely letters delayed by rail failures.

Ted Broer planned to fly to Germany on June 20 but his plane had engine trouble after about half an hour in the air. The group spent the night in New York at the Hotel Wellington as guests of Scandinavian Air Service. Broer showed moving pictures of Iowa and Germany to friends during the layover before resuming travel. He visited Harold Kaufman in Schenectady and Paul Hunt in Hempstead, and planned to drive his car home from Hempstead in about three months after returning from Germany.

Burglars Hit Eldora Firms On Wednesday Night
Burglars entered three Eldora businesses on Wednesday night, taking a small amount of cash, some pop and ice cream. At Sinclair service station a 12 by 18 inch window was broken and $8.05 from the till plus two bottles of pop were taken. A nearby break damaged Wood Auto Ford garage with a broken window and some money missing. Mobiloil station owner Edward Mossman reported a 12 by 18 inch window broken, about $3 taken including some tax money. ice cream and pop also appeared to be consumed. Sheriff Paul Hodgson and Deputy Harald Marshman investigated.

Heavy Wind Causes Little Damage Here
A heavy wind and rain struck Eldora during Moon day night causing minimal damage. Two trees were blown down at Pine Lake Country club. Centra l States Electric reported one outage at a farm. Iowa Falls saw over an inch of rain in ten minutes and a few trees blown down. About 2300 Hardin REA patrons lost electric service as Corn Belt power lines were damaged, with restoration expected by mid-morning Tuesday.

Escaped Trainers Taken in California
Two 17 year old boys named Robert Meadows and William Davis who fled a training school on June 15 were taken into custody in California. Local officers report the youths are believed to have stolen a car at Iowa Falls and left it in Boone. They are expected to be returned to Iowa Falls if California authorities approve their release.

Wildlife Club Ships 1500 Pheasant Chicks to County
The Pine Lake Wildlife Club received a consignment of 500 pheasant chicks two weeks old from the state hatchery. T. A. Floods in Franklin Co hinder Eldorans travel
Six Eldorans traveling from Hampton to Fldora were slowed by floods as five inches of rain fell in Hampton by midnight and waters rose over the highway. The party waited five hours for water to subside before turning back, reaching home around five o clock. One observer reported seeing debris and wreckage along the route amid the storm.
