The VFW and Auxiliary plan a public memorial service July 20 at 8 p m in the high school building to honor Korean War dead. Local clergy from Marys Catholic and Congregational churches will participate with Navy chaplains from World War II. Eldora Softball Association will pause games to encourage attendance. Eldora residents Pfe Donald May and Pfc Charles Joe Mordge serve in Korea. Cpt Robert May and Pfc James Wallis are missing.

El Dora district proposes 1951-52 budget total
The El Dora consolidated school district faces an estimated $197,828 needed for the 1951-52 year, with expenditures totaling $181,584 for the year ending June 30, 1951. The general fund would rise to $170,600 from $157,521 due to higher salaries, plant improvements, a new bus, and equipment. pension and special courses funds also increase. A budget hearing is set for August 6.

Landscape Tour Set for July 18
Margherita Tarr extension landscape architect of Town State college will visit Hardin county July 17 and 18 to assist rural women with landscaping and grounds improvements. On July 17 she meets the county executive committee and officials to plan the tour. OPS Plans Clinics In Several Towns
OPS plans a series of pricing clinics statewide to explain OPS rulings to merchants and businesspeople. Will Repair Valve At Upper Lake Dam

Eldoran Man Dies When Car Sideswipes Truck On Highway 14
James Nichard Stone broker 26 of Eldora was killed at 6 30 am Thursday when his Ford convertible sideswiped a semitrailer north of Marshalltown. The truck driven by Karl Greene of Grand River Ia was uninjured and slightly damaged. Stonebraker a WWII veteran worked in the Star Clothing Co shoe department. Surviving are his wife Virginia, his parents, two brothers and a sister. Funeral arrangements pending.

City workers completed 507 feet of new four inch water main on the north side of 12th avenue from 14th Street to the M and St. L. tracks. The block previously had no water line, with service from Edgington avenue and 11th avenue. A city project aims to lay 3,000 feet of four and two inch mains this year.
