Electrical Storm Drops Inches of Rain Across County
Heavy rains drenched most of Hardin county early Wednesday with wind and hail reported in some areas. Eldora saw 1.93 inches starting at 5:15 a.m. Steamboat Rock recorded two inches by 7:30 a.m. and an additional quarter inch by mid morning with some hail but no damage reported. The storm began around 5:30 a.m. No further damage reports were received.

Second Haying Accident Claims Eldora Farmhand
The second haying accident in six days took the life of 74 year old Fred Lamprey of Eldora Monday afternoon. He was struck by a bale of hay in a barn loft on Emma Wasson’s farm near Lawn Hill while working with another man. An autopsy concluded death from a broken neck. Lamprey had worked for Robert Papenfuss about four years. Brief services were held Wednesday in Eldora with burial at Plainview Minnesota. Graveside service was by the IOOF lodge. He is survived by a sister in Rochester Minnesota.
