Eldora Kiddies Days Set To Raise Prices
Eldora Chamber of Commerce schedules Kiddies Days for Friday and Saturday August 16 and 17 on the square. Steelman Amusements of Adel offers five rides at 15 cents each amid a price rise. A Kiddies parade is set for Saturday morning and rides run 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the Pioneer Plaza east side.

Paving and Grading Projects Start in Hardin County
Hardin County engineer Rol ley Glasgow reports two major road works underway. Grading began on a 1.5 mile stretch north of Hubbard parallel to Highway 65 with culverts and a bridge under construction to be finished soon. Weidman Construction of Dows handles grading and Al Munson Construction of Boone the bridge. A three mile paving project south of Whitten near the county line started last week, with Quad Cities Construction of Rock Island, Illinois listed as contractor.

Conservation Board Objects to 520 Read Plan in Greenbelt Fight
Hardin County Conservation Board filed a 3.5 page response to the Freeway 520 Environmental Statement. It objects to water air and noise pollution, wildlife and plant protection, recreation and archaeological sites, arguing the corridor would harm the Iowa River Greenbelt and urging stricter controls for future planning. The board will prepare a final statement with a hearing transcript and late submissions from the board.

New Providence to vote 2 percent mill levy for repairs
New Providence Community School District sets a September 10 school election on a 2 percent mill levy to fund roof, spout, window, and equipment repairs, grounds upkeep, and emergency reserves. Superintendent Robert Reymer notes the levy could run up to 10 years, with five years likely sufficient, and funds would not begin until after July 1, 1975.
