Nominations papers were filed for two Iowa Valley Community College Board of Directors seats in districts one and five. District one covers Alden, Iowa Falls, and Ackley Geneva districts, with David R. Hansen seeking re-election. District five includes parts of Marshalltown districts and Timber Creek township, with Dorothy Apgar unopposed. Election is Sept. 10. The T.T.T. National Society Chapter FN announces an original art show at Pioneer Plaza Eldora on Aug 31 from 1 to 9 pm with demonstrations and a food booth to benefit local charities. Rain date Sept 7. The same day features a production by Jane Davis Primus of Steamboat Rock titled Of Statues and Streakers and Stuff with Eldora Community Theatre on the Plaza terrace.

Eldora Reports Giant Step in Retail Sales Increase
Eldora's gross retail sales for the quarter ending March 31, 1974 rose to 14 633 295 from 8 676 467 a year earlier, an increase of 5 756 828. Hardin County totals reached 44 967 945, up from 30 934 060, with every town showing gains as prices rose and reporting discrepancies noted by the Iowa Department of Revenue.

Two Car Mishaps Near Steamboat Rock Reported
Hardin County Sheriff’s Office logged two single vehicle crashes near Steamboat Rock on Sunday. Anthony Heard, 17, drove off the road on D-35. his 1972 Datsun sustained front end damage. Valerie Bahnsen, 25, avoided a head on collision by leaving the lane and was treated at Eldora Community Hospital after her 1971 Oldsmobile suffered about 100 dollars in damage. A second incident, Friday morning, saw Edward Schweertmann, 38, strike a calf with his 1970 Buick on D-65 west of Union, causing roughly 150 dollars in front end damage.

Merrill Wiechmann of Hubbard seeks $4771 from Dennis Winter in Hardin County District Court over a May 29 pickup tractor crash. Corwin Wiechmann operated the tractor. claims include negligent speed, failure to stop in time, and loss of use of the tractor for 60 days with repair costs $2791 and total damages $4771. Ticket Sales Begin This Week For Kids Day Rides
Funeral services for Walter Filbrandt 74 were held at St John s United Church of Christ Ackley with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. He was born July 20 1900 and survived by several siblings. Advance ticket sales for Kiddies Days rides by the Eldora Chamber of Commerce begin this week with 15 cent ride tickets up from 10 cents. Rides by Steelman Amusements of Adel run Friday and Saturday August 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. A 4 kids parade for ages 12 and under is scheduled Saturday at 9 30 a.m. with seven competition categories.
