Hardin Board of Supervisors bids on culverts and base
On Monday May 2 the Hardin County Board of Supervisors will receive bids on three culvert projects and rolled stone base material for nine miles of shoulder work on the Buckeye to Radcliffe road. Eldora hosts the first annual Easter Eye program on Saturday April 16 with a free 1:30 pm movie for under 12 at New Grand Theatre followed by an egg hunt at 3 pm. The Eldora council passed an ordinance extending 12th Street northerly to join 42th Street and accepted Lundy’s First Addition plat northeast of St. Mary’s Church. Eldora Services for Wilkie Eilders in 1940s obituary
Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Andrle-Creps Funeral Home of Eldora for Wilkie Ellders a 48 year old local man who died Sunday at Des Moines Veterans Hospital of cancer. The Rev Donald Sterling officiated a burial with military honors in Eldora Cemetery. Pallbearers included Harry Arends Floyd Burns Merl Morelock Rudolph Voll Kenneth Voll and Henry Wagner. Vocalist Howard Cuingerman accompanied by Mrs J D Leonard on the organ. Flower ladies Misses Maxine Morelock and Bonnie Woll. Wilkie J Eilders was born October 16 1911 at Cleves the son of Jacob and Alice Eilders. He spent his life in Hardin County the last 18 years in Eldora. He married Dorothy Wagner of Ackley on July 16 1935. A World War II veteran he served with the U S Navy in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1948. He was a general construction worker. Survivors include his wife six children Jacob of Bell Gardens California William Eldora Mrs Robert Vry Riceville Iowa Wm Craig Mason City and Carroll Ann and Jimmie Dean at home and eight grandchildren. Also his mother Mrs Alice Esiders of Eldora four brothers Ray and Ben of Waterloo John of Spokane Washington and Jake and seven sisters Mesdames George Case Tama Rudolph Woll Gifford Floyd Burns Carlisle and Harry Arends Merl Morelock Millie Sapp and Clarence Peters of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.

Local Youths to Present Bill at Mock Session
Des Moines hosts a five day mock legislative session featuring Eidora Hi and Tri- N- groups presenting a five rights bill.
