President John E. Horner welcomed Hanover students at the opening convocation in Parker Auditorium on September 10 1963. The event featured the academic procession and a speech What Have You to Declare by Horner followed by introductions of new faculty by Dean Harold J. Haverkamp. Professor Donald E Morrison performed organ music including the Alma Mater. Acting Chaplain E Mowbray Tate gave the invocation.

GWEN OWEN describes Hanover students returning to campus with stories of summer abroad in Spain Beirut and the Philippines and adventures across Europe. Sara Messersmith sailed to Switzerland to work on a hospital project while Jim Miller to Alaska and Seattle held various jobs. Four students crewed a floating hospital boat in New York and Janice Small praised the people they met. Jim Richter formed a small business mowing lawns with boys earning a bit for himself.
