A spontaneous campus trip drew 31 students to board the steamer Loucinda in rainy weather for a day trip to Louisville. Despite delays and rain returns, the group enjoyed sights, shopping, and Hanover songs before a long hill climb back to Hanover. Some participants expressed interest in another excursion.
A roster of travelers includes Misses McIntyre Kehoe Busse Barger Williams Gaddy Miller Stickman Tweedy Fisher Terrill Crutcher Booze Jantz Bach Engle Tate and men Gilbert Reily Sitler Ramsey Nagel Irotter Moffett Knight Montgomery C Montgomery K Mann McLaughne Kehoe Huber and MacDonnell.
In a Monday afternoon match Montgomery and Kehoe emerged as strong contenders for the varsity tennis squad. Miller and Mann, noted in the I C A L meet last spring, fought hard but won the first set 6 4 before darkness halted play with the score 4 4.
The Hanover Presbyterian Church will conduct Sunday morning services in Donnell Chapel during repairs to the church building. The mid week prayer meeting moves to the Christian Association hall. No completion date is given, but workmen pursue refinishing as quickly as possible.
The Phi Welts held a Friday eve gathering last week to honor Mann, Kehoe and Montgomery on their birthdays. The event featured games and dancing, described as a pleasant surprise.
Hanover College received strong Presbyterian support at the state Synod meeting in Sullivan. The college was praised by the committee on colleges and had wide graduate and trustee participation from across the state. Hanover alumni held key roles, with Dr. Frank Hood as moderator and Rev. T. J. Graham named Indiana Anti Saloon League board candidate.
Director Nagel announced that the men of the college will be accorded the same privilege relative to the substitution of gym work for tennis.
The Seniors held their first monthly class supper at Sutherland's boarding house on the eleventh. The room was decorated in lavender and white, the food was excellent, and toasts followed by members of the class. Deacon's toast on The Ladies was a highlight. R. J. Millar was elected next toastmaster amid bidder enthusiasm.
Hanover College in Indiana plans a strong showing at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Louisville next May. Proximity to Louisville and affordable transport enable many students and faculty to attend, with talks of a chartered boat to bring delegates via the Ohio River.
