Professor Ned Guthrie releases the final exam timetable for the second semester with combined sections in elementary Spanish, French, German, and United States History after 1865. Exams run Monday through Friday June 5 to 9 with specific time slots for each course and section.
Memorial Day and graduation assemblies outline next weeks schedule. Senior Class Day is Monday with Ralph Smith in charge. Tuesday features Dr S Clifford Adams speaking on A Civil War Veteran at Hanover for Memorial Day. Wednesday hosts class sponsor Doctor Mars M Westington with Janus and June. Honors Day Thursday moved from Friday with a detailed class schedule and an 11 10 start to 12 00 conclusion.
Fifty Hanoverians donated blood for the Red Cross unit at Donner Hall last Friday. Mrs. Lloyd Neal of Madison also gave blood. Al Speck was reelected PAF coordinator by the Public Affairs Forum steering committee at its meeting Tuesday night. Other officers for next semester include John Trask treasurer Marilyn Megorden archivist Tom Houser publicity director and Bruce Mitchell secretary. Preparations for next year are already being made by the steering committee. All college meetings of the Public Affairs Forum are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays each month.
Barbara Smith and Woody Jones are named editors of Hanover College student publications the TRIANGLE and the REVONAH by the faculty committee on student publications. Jones brings prior roles at the TRIANGLE, while Smith is a junior and former RE VONAH assistant editor. The committee members include Frank S. Baker chairman and several professors. Business managers and other editor roles will be announced next week.
Copies of Hill Thoughts 1950 were placed on sale this afternoon by Professor Charles F. Fox, managing editor of the literary anthology. Staff members act as sales agents. Price of the volume is 35 cents.
The 1950 Revonah will be mailed to students on August 1 continuing the summer release to cut costs. The book expands to 140 pages with color and increased sports coverage, adding three pages each for baseball and track. Faculty and others must order and pay to Dave Strasenburgh at the Beta house by June 2.
Villain Read plots in act one of Only An Orphan Girl as Hanoverians attend tonight and Saturday with a special June 10 performance for alumni. Curtain is 8:00 p m. Cast includes Carolyn Bibb Tish Rhodes Paul Ratz and Dick Hurst under James F Dunlap.
Hanover College will award three honorary degrees at its 1950 commencement. Doctor of divinity honors go to Reverend Roy E. Mueller and Reverend Ernest E. Schroeder, while the Doctor of Laws goes to Mr. Halsey Edmund Ramsen. Schroeder, Hanover graduate of 1921, is a former pastor and past president of the Hanover Alumni Association. Mueller, executive secretary of the Synod of Indiana, has served in Paoli and Indianapolis. Ramsen, Miami University professor and head of its School of Business Administration, is noted as a distinguished educator with studies at multiple universities and a master’s from Ohio State.
