Author Chaplain Gordon To Speak Wednesday
Dr Gordon ordained in 1950 in the Church of Scotland served as Deputy Minister at Paisley Abbey until 1952. He then supply minister for Agamanset and Montauk churches, 1952 54. In 1954 he became Presbyterian Chaplain at Princeton and Dean of University Chapel in 1955. He joins Royal Institute of Philosophy American Society of Church History Renaissance Society of America and founded Church Service Society of America. He authored THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE KWAI about his World War II experiences.

Hanover Institute on India opens with varied guest staff
About 200 Hanover students plan ideas and arrangements for the Hanover Institute on India set to open March 21 and run two days. A Washington speaker and an Ohio State resource leader join the guest staff, with TRIANGLE preparing a two page special edition. The 1963 theme is India Problems and Perspective. The finale features Hindu drama The Little Clay Cart by the Hanover College Players. Coverage from Indianapolis Louisville Cincinnati and Madison is arranged. John L. Maddux replaces an ill William B. King to speak on The U S L A And India. Fulbright scholar Sunada Ghosh leads seminars on Gandhi’s influence and Education in India. Current History issue on India is on sale and previews ran Tuesday and Wednesday.

Four From HC On TV Sunday
Hanover College will present the World Front program televised Sunday at noon on Cincinnati WLW TV. The show continues a weekly series by the Cincinnati Council on World Affairs and will be rebroadcast at 11 05 p m on WLW Radio. The HC segment features a round table on Neutralism Revisited with Elizabeth Thurston and professors Robert Bowers Glenn Mower and Mowbray Tate.

Indian Film Stimulates Interest At Hanover Institute Event
Nearly 700 students attended the showings of the prize winning Indian film The World of Apu on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The film previews the Hanover Institute on India slated for March 21 22. It is the third in a trilogy about Apu a poor student who left school to write and later wanders as a vagabond. With English subtitles the story is clear though the pace feels slow. Actors portraying Apu Aparna and Kajal give strong performances and the photography and score of authentic Indian music are praised. The wedding ceremony is highlighted as a vivid slice of Indian culture.

Hanover Debaters Win Trophy at Berea College Tourney
Hanover varsity earned third place at the Berea College Debate Tournament held on February 23. The team of Doug McLaren and Ted Hill, affirming, and Lowell Robertson and Barbara Senior, negating, debated the non communist nations forming an economic community. The affirming squad beat Kentucky and Morehead State and Bellarmine, with a loss to Asbury. Senior led in speaker points while coach Dr. Stanley Wheater also served as critic judge. The intramural tournament began with a non elimination round on an India neutrality topic aligned with the India Institute.

The John B Goodrich Oratory Contest open to all Han over students will be held Thursday afternoon April 4 in Classic Hall 102. Orations must be 1200 words or less and delivered from memory with no more than ten percent quoted material. Manuscripts due to Dr Stanley Wheater in Classic Hall 205 by Monday April 1. Prize of fifty dollars funded by Mr P E Goodrich endowment.

Political Jobs Now Available for Indiana Students
The Indiana Council for Education in Politics will place six Indiana college students as interns in political offices for two months this summer. Selected from statewide applicants, they will work in Washington or Indianapolis and receive a $600 stipend. The usual term is June and July. Applications are at Dr. Glenn Mower’s Classic 202 office.

A Sunday March 10 social work smoker for men only will run 2 to 4 p m at the Community Chest Building 2400 Reading Road Cincinnati. Organized by college students and Careers in Social Work the event is open to all undergraduate college men to discuss professional opportunities in social work with local men in the field. Undergraduate and graduate students with current experience through volunteer work or school placement will join in. A half hour formal talk will be followed by informal one on one discussions and refreshments.
