Historian Peckham Sees Revolution's Human Side
Historian Peckham, curator of manuscripts 1936 1945 and lecturer for the library, led roles as science and war historian at the University. In 1945 he became director of the Indiana Historical Bureau and secretary of the Indiana Historical Society, with editorial work at Grand Rapids Press and American Heritage. Active in Indianapolis civic affairs and member of multiple learned societies, he has appeared in Who's Who since 1948. His books include Pontiac and the Indian Uprising and The Colonial Wars 1689 1762, and his daughter Angela is a Hanover senior.

Premier Arts Festival Scheduled For May
A national exhibition of graphic art will anchor the first Hanover Fine Arts Festival May 8-11. The event, run by the fine arts department, features a play, voice and instrumental recitals, a choral concert, and the exhibition with purchase prize awards of 100, 75, 60, and 40 dollars. Artwork includes color and black and white prints, drawings, lithographs, intaglio and relief prints. Committee members are Thomas L. Gordon chair, William T. Hopkins, Donald F. Morrison, W. Maxwell Poland, Lee Schroeder, and Joseph A. Withey.

Madrigals and a Carlson Sandburg poem were transformed into live stereo by the Roger Wagner Chorale at Parker Auditorium. The Community Artists Series produced two hours of madrigals in Latin French and Italian a secular cantata The Prairie by Lukes Foss and other short songs bringing Mid Western feeling and humor to a wintry crowd.

Fire damages Phi Gam room in Hanover house blaze
About one thousand dollars in damage resulted from a fire at the Phi Gam house Friday at 3 15 a m. The fire started in a faulty light socket and a large stuffed couch burned first. Mike Bailey and Alan Demroske slept through the blaze but escaped unharmed as Hanover Fire Department arrived quickly and filled the house with smoke. Don Morrison and Kirk Dinkins slept through it, thinking it was a false alarm. One pledge was not alarmed by smoke entering via a ventilator, suspecting actives at play.

Honorary To Dine Initiate Banquet At Clifty Inn
Hanover's Gamma Sigma Pi honorary for juniors and seniors with a 3 35 or higher accumulative average will hold its annual banquet on Sunday March 3 at 6 30 p m. A smorgasbord dinner at Clifty Inn precedes the initiation of two new members Deanna Hood and Nancye Moncrief. Hanover Students Travel South for Oakridge Institute Study
Sixteen Hanover physics students in Physics 227 will spend ten days at Oakridge Institute for Nuclear Studies in Oakridge Tennessee starting May 15. They will live in dorms attend morning lectures and lab work in the Special Training Division with field trips to isotope plants and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Dr Brock to Lecture On New Antibiotics at Hanover College
Dr Thomas D Brock, sponsored by Sigma Xi, will speak to the Hanover College Science Club on Tuesday February 26 at 7 30 p m in Classic 102. His illustrated talk titled How to Find a New Antibiotic covers discovery relevance to medical research and methods used. Brock, a specialist in microbial physiology genetics and antibiotics, has published over twenty five papers and coauthored Milestones in Microbiology. He is associate professor of bacteriology and microbiology at Indiana University and former Western Reserve University biology professor. He earned his PhD from Ohio State University in 1943 after graduating cum laude in 1940. He holds Phi Beta Kappa Sigma Xi and memberships in AAAS SAB Mycological Society and related groups.

Two senior sociology majors win graduate study fellowships.
