Poet Model Lionel Wiggam to Speak at Assembly

Lionel Wiggam, poet playwright and New York model, will present a program titled Writer's Cramp and Poet's License next Thursday. Born in Indiana, Princeton graduate, Wiggam published early and later won Indiana Author's Award for Land of Unloving. He has contributed to The Atlantic Monthly Harper's Esquire and The New Yorker calls him a born lyric poet. He is known for acting directing writing and Ford Foundation recognition. He balances modeling one ten hour day weekly with six days of writing.

Hanover faculty and students to appear on World Front

Two Hanover faculty members and two students join the TV panel on World Front noon Sunday via WLW Cincinnati. The program, part of the Cincinnati Council on World Affairs, covers human rights in the Middle East Western Europe United States and Russia.

Hanover College hosts over 1,000 public school students for the Southeast Indiana District Solo and Ensemble contest led by Professor Max Poland. Judges include Indiana University and Purdue affiliates. performances in woodwinds brass and percussion vie for class A ratings to qualify for the State Contest at Butler University on February 15.

AO's Betas Top Grades For First Term 1963-64

The registrar reports campus scholastic averages for the first term of 1963-64. Beta Theta Pi leads with 2.68 and Alpha Omicron Pi follows at 3.05. Last year the top groups were Beta Theta Pi 2.62 and Phi Mu 3.003, while three years ago the leaders were 2.68 for the fraternity and 2.98 for the sorority.

Brazilian Play Cast Announced for Hanover Institute Plays

Casting for A God Slept Here and another play set for March 6 and 7 at the Hanover Brazilian Institute. Janis Small stars as Alkmena with Robert Trimble as Amplitryon and Jim Yeiser as Sofia. JoAnn Moorehead plays Tessala and Dick East is cast as the first soldier with the second soldier pending.

Study Aid Initiated by Student Senate for Winter Term 1964

A tutoring service, operating under the Student Senate, will run on an experimental basis during the 1964 winter term. Students may choose tutors by contacting senate members or deans offices. Tutors are paid $1.25 an hour by the student and lists are compiled each semester by honoraries to ensure tutor qualification and impartiality. If feasible, the program may become permanent and added to the student handbook. The committee is led by Bill Caddell and includes Bev Carpenter, Jeanine Collier, and Sally Rodkey.
