State Applies Thumb Screw To Hanover State

The Indiana State Revenue Department announced that all sales of tangible personal property by colleges and universities are subject to the 2 percent sales tax. The regulation instructs colleges to collect tax on book stores food services room and board rentals of housing and unions rentals for 30 days or less. It also tax es sales by student groups at events and purchases for student auxiliary activities.

Van Leeuwen Publishes Book in History of Ideas Series

Hanover College reports Dr Henry Van Leeuwen has revised his 1961 doctoral thesis into a published monograph in the International Archives of the History of Ideas. Martinus Nijhoff, The Hague, released The Problem of Certainty in English Thought 1630 1690, with preface by Richard H Popkin. The work examines 17th century England theology science philosophy and attitudes of Bacon Newton and Locke.

Glass Is Topic Next Assembly

The History of Glass will be the topic for next Monday's assembly program presented by Mr. Paul N. Perrot director of the Corning Museum of Glass. Born in Paris he studied in France and Italy and later in New York at NYU Institute of Fine Arts.

Campus Stages World Premiere of Brazilian One-Acts

Hanover Players present two Brazilian one act plays There Will Always Be Angels by Cassiano Nunes and A God Slept Here by Guilherme Figueiredo with English translations by N.Y.U. faculty. World premiere of Angels set in Santos Brazil. comedy God Slept Here set in Thebes Greece. Performances Friday and Saturday March 6 and 7 with Brazilian Institute collaboration.

Harvard Prof Speaks On United Nations Law

Harvard University international law professor Louis B. Sohn addressed three groups on International Law and Its Uses. He defined international law, traced freedom of the seas through rule development, and discussed codification risks before addressing the Panama crisis at a Public Affairs Forum coffee hour.
