Announcement from the registrar identifies Phi Mu with a 3.003 point average and Beta Theta Pi with 2.622 as the scholarship cup recipients. The Honors Day program will award the cups, noting last year’s first semester averages of 2.9960 for Phi Mu and 2.6326 for Beta Theta Pi.
Three interviews for seniors are planned next week. The Naval Aviation team visits the Soda Bowl on Monday February 18. Aetna Group Life Insurance reps come Wednesday February 20. Bendix Corporation representatives visit Friday February 22.
Five week off campus study in Mexico for Spanish students with courses in conversation Spanish. The group will reside in Mexico City boarding house and visit schools prisons and government agencies while also seeing tourist sites. Participants list includes Donna Arnold Chris Berliner Becky Cassell Judy Cook Lauragene Cutter Tom Eller and others.
Carol Cochran of Hinsdale Illinois was elected president of Phi Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi. A junior majoring in French and English she has served as pledge class president Student Council and Panhellenic Council representative and co ordinator of International Club. Other officers named include Kellum Lestina Anderson Benneville Coleman Martin Peak. Colleen Frederick named president of Nu chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta for 1963, with Sandi Johnson Dixon Maple Ban bury Harvey named to key posts.
The Roger Wagner Chorale of twenty four voices directed by Roger Wagner will perform for Community Artist Series on Thursday Feb 21 at 815 pm in Parker Auditorium Hanover College. The program blends Renaissance religious works with lighter pieces and includes The Prairie by Sandburg set to Lukas Foss music and Ella Rose Halloran at piano.
Dr. Rosenbaum will meet Delta Epsilon and Hanover science faculty Sunday night to discuss mathematics as a link. Monday classes in Goodrich 107 cover geometry with Mr. Johnson, then undergraduate and graduate math discussions in Goodrich 107 open to all students. He has held positions at Swarthmore and Reed and studied at Yale and Cambridge.
A worship service will be held Sunday in Memorial Chapel for the Universal Day of Prayer for Students. Sponsored by World Student Christian Fellowship, the observance centers on the theme Unity Peace and the Secular World Order.
Hanover's female students serve as experimental subjects for a new Hostess Examination developed by the American Institute for Research in Pittsburgh. Mr Rankin, now with the Institute, arranged the study on campus noting Hanover women exhibit strong traits. Dr Zirkle will administer the test, which aims to help personnel assess qualities that distinguish individuals.
The Clay Cart announces ten additional cast members including Ken Zinzer Dardaraka Chandana ka Jan Updike Vardhaman aka Guildwarden Rufus Jones Judge Dr Edward Lueders Viraka Don Steiner Goha Dick Strait Ahinta Tom Grandorf Guildwarden John Tobian Maid Sandy Nichols Clerk Jerry Coffey along with roles for stage manager beadle and others.
The Inter-Residence Council policies committee re evaluates campus closing hours along with weekend privileges and overnights. Recommendations move from IRC to administration for approval as students, faculty, and MRH voices shape potential changes.
John Shoemaker and Judy Rux are named senior and junior co chairmen of next year's Homecoming by the Recreation Committee of the Student Council. Don Steiner serves as alumni director. A 1963 theme will guide celebrations and returning alumni activities. Additional committee members include Kent Wright Robie Vestal Bob Randall Ann Coleman Emily Hyer Barb Senior Jeff Lorenz Shera Banberry and Susan Talmage.
