Cool Talk On Polar Regions By John Hanessian Jr

Mr John Hanessian Jr discusses polar regions on campus Tuesday and Wednesday after the long weekend. A 7 30 pm lecture in Class 110 Tuesday covers introductions to polar regions laws defense strategy and Arctic development topics. The speaker previously focused on international relations and law but now centers on national and international developments in the polar areas.

Students debating activity funds and next year’s budget

Student representatives Randle and Senior endorse using increased funds this year for activities while cautioning that surpluses from the past three years may justify withholding extra requests. They support current allotments for forensics, the College Choir, the Pep band and the Hanover theatre, and a Senate budget panel is reviewing financing for next year.

Luvisi to be third CAS star at Parker Auditorium

Pianist Lee Luvisi a Curtis Institute staff member and former Louisville native, will perform as the third Community Artist Series star at Parker Auditorium on February 19 at 8 15 p m. Luvisi, age twenty five, has a distinguished concert career and an early Carnegie Hall dream fulfilled in 1957. He cites Josef Hofmann Fritz Kreisler and John McCormack as major influences and admires the French school of piano composition.

State Dept to Dispatch Substitute Alexis Johnson Monday

The State Department will send Deputy Under Secretary Alexis Johnson to speak on American policy in international affairs at Parker Auditorium Monday at 8 p m. Johnson, a veteran diplomat with posts in Asia and Europe, will replace George Ball who is diverted to Cyprus.

Academic Study Group Evaluates Plan F at Hanover

The Student Senate formed an Academic Study Committee to organize discussion groups on the 14-14-5 plan. Kent Wright chairs a panel including Steve Olvey Louie Stout Peggy Palmer Dr Enos Pray Edward Huenemann and Dean Harold Haverkamp. Discussion will cover course structure independent study testing and plan effectiveness with groups of juniors seniors and freshmen sophomores hosted by faculty.
