Completion of SC Amendments Expected Soon

Revisions to the Student Council constitution will be presented to the Student Affairs Committee on February 22 after a special committee investigated past campus constitutions. Work will continue at the next Council meeting to prepare the amended document for the faculty, which may consider it later.

Kramer Delegate To Foreign Policy Meet

Dr. Leonard J. Kramer a political science professor is among 100 mid western delegates chosen for an institute on American foreign policy by the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations. The meetings run today and Saturday February 10 and 11 with State Department officials on hand to discuss policy in Europe the Far East and the United Nations.

Hanover Independents Lead First Semester Averages 1949-50

Hanover College students show top averages with the Independent Men posting 2.106, Alpha Delta Pi at 1.979 for sororities, and Phi Gamma Delta leading fraternities at 1.822. The All College average rises to 1.647, up .03.

Menagerie Final Stage Set For Two Hanover Shows

The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams will be staged by the Hanover Players under Professor James F. Dunlap in the auditorium on February 17 and 18 at 8:00 p m. Students and faculty enter free while others pay 74 cents including tax. Tickets available at the auditorium ticket office or by mail from Mr. Dunlap for non Hanover residents.

Social Groups Plan Bull Sessions on Religious Topics

During Religious Emphasis Week Hanover groups will hold Tuesday night discussions. Each group selects a time and guides on topics such as Dogma and the Christian Church, Worship, Who Is God, Christian view toward militarism, and Life in the Hereafter with various faculty and clergy assisting.

President's Portrait Begun By Mattison at Hanover

Donald Mattison director of the John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis arrived in Hanover to begin painting Dr. Parker’s portrait. A gift from an anonymous donor funds the addition to Hanover’s presidents series. Mattison, a Wisconsin native and Yale alumnus, has taught at John Herron for 16 years and studied in Rome before focusing on portraiture.

AOPi Installation and Initiation Set for Feb 25

Formal installation and initiation for Phi Omicron of Alpha Omicron Pi occur Saturday February 25 at the Phi Mu Lodge starting 11:00 am. National president Mrs. Lindrooth will install. A reception follows 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Men’s Residence Hall with many officials and members attending.

Calvert Lists 690 Enrollment This Semester

Hanover College reports 690 students enrolled this semester per registrar Robert Calvert. The breakdown includes 145 seniors, 147 juniors, 179 sophomores, 215 freshmen, and two special students. Last semester began with 188 veterans distributed as 86 seniors, 50 juniors, 31 sophomores, and 21 freshmen.

Hanover College Names Science Building GOODRICH HALL

Hanover College trustees renamed the science building GOODRICH HALL to honor P E Goodrich for lifelong service since joining the board in 1921 and as former president from 1930 to 1948. Dr Albert G Parker Jr cited gifts totaling over 450000 dollars and planned bronze plaques and entrance markers.

Calendar of events for February at the campus

The calendar lists activities from Saturday February 11 to Friday February 17 including a Lambda Chi Alpha formal at Wood's Field House, a Lincoln's Birthday chimes program by Mrs. E Mowbray Tate featuring a mix of hymns spirituals and poems, S C A at the Y building, Religious Emphasis Week assembly, bull sessions at sorority and fraternity houses, a Student Council meeting at Donner Hall, and a DePauw basketball game at Lynn Hall.

Howard Pipher Heads New Theta Alpha Phi Chapter

Howard Pipher, past president of the Hanover Players, has been chosen to lead the newly installed Theta Alpha Phi chapter on Hanover campus. Other officers are Joan Russ vice president Al Boyer secretary Jim Stuckey treasurer and John Haney historian.
