Student Council OKs Contract For Boat Ride

The Student Council approved a contract for an all college boat ride on May 9 with the steamer Avalon. The cost of about 450 dollars will be paid from the student activity fee. A new constitution committee is named to study other councils with Olive Hopping as chair and members Sam Decker Jeraldine Hooton Horn and Nancy Robinson. A faculty student committee to authorize campus fund raising is to be formed with three students to be appointed next week.

Hanover Players Elect Norman Willey President

Norman Willey was elected president of Hanover Players for the coming year at yesterday's meeting. Norman Bracket was named vice president and Jane Houghton secretary treasurer for the year.

Recital by Frank Blanning Next Tuesday in University Auditorium

Professor Frank Blanning will present the first faculty recital of the year in the university auditorium next Tuesday at 8 00 pm with accompanist Kenneth Tewell. The program includes Handel and Faure songs, Brahms Vier Ernste Gesange, Hungarian folk songs arranged by Korbay, and John Jacob Niles gambling songs.

College Orchestra Revival Under Poland Direction

The Music Department forms a college orchestra led by Prof. W Maxwell Poland, reviving prewar activity. String section rehearses two nights weekly, with full ensemble planned in spring. Glass Menagerie Tickets Sales Begin Monday

The Hanover Players announce tickets for the February 17-18 performances of The Glass Menagerie. Tickets go on sale Monday afternoons 1 3 p m in the auditorium box office or during Thursday assembly periods. Admission for others is 74 cents. all seats are reserved. Curtain is 8 p m sharp. late seating not allowed.

Hanover Selects Ukrainian Displaced Student for Admission

George Bulbenko, 23, native of Ukraine, living in Frankfort Germany, has been chosen by the Hanover Displaced Student Committee as a candidate for admission next fall. He studied at Frankfort University, majors in chemistry, and has worked as a radio repairman and interpreter. He learned English in 1945, knows Russian German and French, and has written for Ukrainian press. If admitted he intends to continue chemistry studies.

Fraternities Pledge 83 Men From Hanover

Hanover's five national fraternities pledged 83 men this week after preference lists were released by the Dean's office. Beta Theta Pi pledged eleven men, including Frank Fisher Nabb Bill Florent Huntington Ken Hilger Jack Hosback Larry Moore Greensburg Robert Myers Knightstown Cleburne Quinn Anderson Roger Schnepf Decatur Charles Schureman Green Valley Ed Swearingen and John Trask Indianapolis.

Triangle Printing Change at Hanover College

The Hanover College TRI ANGLE switches to Excelsior type faces printed by Democrat Printing Company. The new font, installed three weeks ago, replaces the old Roman type and adds 18 to 20 inches more column copy per issue with a clearer, more open face. First issue with the change was January 13.
