Miniota Museum seeks new home funds and community help
The Miniota Municipal Museum faces overcrowding and storage shortages. A 2000 square foot building would cost about 30000 for the structure, while purchasing and repairing a property could need 15000 to 20000. Grants may cover about 35000 if declared Municipal Heritage Property. The committee plans bingo in June, a garage sale, and other fundraisers. donations eligible for tax receipts via the Income Tax Department.

ACRE Announces Metal Container Recycling Move to Alberta
The Association for a Clean Rural Environment says discarded metal pesticide containers are shipped to Wearmouth Waste Tech in Alberta for shredding washing and recycling into rebar. ACRE cites farmer participation and approval from Manitoba and Alberta environments as key to closing the loop on metal containers. Plastic markets remain under development with Agri Plastic fence posts shown at Earth Day events.

Basswood 4-H achievement night drew about 100 attendees on May 2. Twelve members presented projects featuring countries Canada Norway England Sweden Holland U S A and the Ukraine with green ribbons for all and red or blue for general appearance. Club leader Gwen Usick and judge Ann Mandzuik oversaw events while Leigh Usick emceed. Basswood Women's Institute sponsored the program.
