Arena dust fades as Hamiota memorial arena is demolished
Drozda Construction began demolition of the Hamiota Memorial Arena and Curling Arena on May 6 at 3 45 pm, with the final section removed May 7 around 4 pm. Built in 1934 and transformed over decades, the facility hosted local champions and sport groups before closing in spring 1991 to make way for the new Hamiota and District Sports Complex.

Recreational Youth Baseball Opens Season In Hamiota
Hamiota May 12 opened a new season of recreational ball led by Yolande Ranson as coach. Over twenty players showed up with enthusiastic parents. join on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. at the Elementary school diamond. The program is free and open to all ages and to youth in regular league ball.

Hamiota Girl Guides Host Successful Tea and Bake Sale
The Hamiota Girl Guides held a tea and bake sale on May 9 1992 at Chumah Hall. One hundred twenty one signed the guest book as Brownies and moms served tea and cake. A raffle cake shaped like a Brownie T shirt won by Brett Ramsey. Proceeds support World Friendship Fund and local Brownie camps.
