Ottawa policies broaden veteran recognition and oil sector rules
In the week of March 23 1992 the federal government announced two key moves. Veterans Affairs will add merchant mariners to benefits equivalence with Armed Forces veterans, expanding eligibility for pensions income support and health care. Jake Epp will remove the Oil and Gas Acquisitions Policy thresholds, allowing Canadian controlled upstream sales to higher values to U.S. investors while maintaining net benefit scrutiny.
