Hamiota Sports Complex votes for new four sheet rink plan
About 200 residents attended a February 17 meeting at Hamiota Community Centre where two proposals were reviewed. A large majority favored building a new complex with four curling sheets and artificial ice at the fairgrounds, estimated at 1.3 million dollars. A fundraising drive begins in March with door to door canvassing and pledge options including 500 dollars per year for 10 years. Tax receipts will be issued for donations. The project relies on community support and volunteers.
