Pion Era set to bring early prairie life alive in July

Early prairie days will be staged at Pion Era July 4 to 9 as the Western Development Museum builds a living display of pioneering farming gear. Chairman J L Phelps says the event will be a flagship of Saskatchewan’s Golden Jubilee celebrations with 60 plus horses and oxen and a full range of era vehicles. The grounds south of the museum are prepared with 35 acres sown to oats and brome, parking for 5 000 cars, and barns, bleachers, and work shops under construction. A 120 horsepower American Abell steamer, the museum’s most powerful yet, arrives from Norman Campbell of Pelly to join the display.
