RRSP tax reform slows limits to 1995 as Canada reshapes retirement aid
The federal plan keeps RRSPs largely intact but delays higher limits. The 1988 maximum RRSP deduction remains 7,500 with 15,500 target phased in by 1995. Employer pension limits stay at 7,000, indexing begins in 1995. The changes shrink full tax assistance to about two and a half times average earnings.
