Your Heart Facts and How It Works
Your heart is a powerful organ about the size of a fist. It pumps hundreds of gallons of blood daily at 70 to 80 strokes per minute, circulating oxygen and nutrients while removing wastes. Strenuous activity can raise speed and output, but existing conditions influence heart response. For more, request the pamphlet You and Your Heart from the Manitoba Heart Foundation.
