The 7th Annual Minor Hockey Tournament in Hamiota drew strong support January 12 to 14 with young teams from Hamiota Oak River Min nedosa Virden Brandon St Lazare and Neepawa competing across age groups. Officials and volunteers were thanked for making the event a success.

The Shoal Lake Royal York Chapter No. 30 Order of the Eastern Star held their December meeting under guidance and tradition. Members gathered to discuss chapter business and participate in the customary ceremonial activities.
McCONNELL 4H Beef Club Meets at Keith Bridge Home
The 4H Beef Club held its second meeting at the Keith Bridge home on January 4 with 7 members and 2 leaders. They planned a $50 raffle, sent funds to the Ability Fund and Club Council, and prepared members for short speeches at the next gathering. A River 4-H Bonspiel participant joined, a quiz on The Fed Calf Book was held, and a Christmas themed meeting featured carols, candle lighting, and charity acts for shut-ins. Cancer pads were sent to a clinic, and a February heart fund campaign is planned with heart month activities.

Young People Meet at Minnedosa
Hamiota youths visit Minnedosa on January 5 joining Strathclair Shoal Lake and Newdale for a church service. Newcomers Peter Hasiuk and his Shoal Lake friend joined devotion on Time led by Mr Isaac. After lunch the group bowled at Minnedosa Bowling Alley with a top ten competition. Next week planned sleigh riding. Heather Reimer reports for Hamiota Young Peoples.
