Life memberships honor Homer for decades of service
Homer, a 42 year member of the 1.C.C.F. and longtime Chamber of Commerce participant, contributed to local projects benefiting the church and schoolboard. He attended 55 provincial Ag Society Conferences since 1936, earned a Century Farm designation in 1981, received a life membership in the Oak River Ag Society in 1987, and retired to Brandon in 1987 where he leads the Westman Seniors Council as president.

Oak River Lions welcome District Governor visit
On January 21 District Governor Ben Ward and his wife Janice visited the Oak River and Area Lions Club. Lion Jim Brown thanked the group while Frank McPhaden introduced the district leader. Ward spoke on Telethon costs and Lions International new Light First project to raise 130 million dollars in three years. The club presented a $50 donation for Quest program.

Farm Safety Day set for Hamiota on March 10
Manitoba Hydro funds Farm Safety Day at Hamiota Community Centre from noon to 9 pm with table displays on farm electrical, machinery, chemical, animal handling and fire safety. About 20 displays planned to instruct on preventing farm accidents. Also notices new insurance deadlines for forage programs and spring soil testing reminder.
