Derby results celebrate drivers and participants

The CKER poker derby lists winners in multiple categories. Drivers finished with Doug Mog gach first, Treena Anderson second, Bruce Robinson third. Silent Riders led by Darren Van Damme, Cam and Lucy Gregory, Maria Knight. Skiers topped by Kris Butler, Mona Butler, Karen Knight. Silent Skiers crowned Curtis Knight, Richard Cochrane, Florence Young. Thanks extend to all participants and helpers for a successful event.

Hamiota Shoal Lake share medical responsibilities agreement

The agreement arose to provide continuous weekend physician coverage and shared information on medical practice between Hamiota and Shoal Lake Health Centres. It notes rural physician retention challenges and describes six full-time doctors serving both centers from Friday evening to Monday morning, with weekend emergencies handled by the on call doctor and nursing staff aiding triage. M.A.A.S. awards life memberships in Manitoba

The Manitoba Association of Agricultural Societies honors four volunteers Howard Baron Gordon Killoh Homer Henry Jack Mitchell with inaugural Honorary Life Membership awards. Recipients were nominated by their local societies for long service to 4-H churches schools and municipal and provincial governance. Gordon Killoh led term limits for leaders and served on multiple boards. Homer Henry led Oak River Society for over six decades and supervised arena projects.

Donor's Choice Adds Charities For 1992 Campaign

At the January 28 1991 meeting Hamiota Donor's Choice voted to include the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Manitoba Lung Association for the 1992 drive running March 15 to April 15 1992. Jean McKinnon and Doreen Hankin will represent the groups. The plan features profiles of ten charities and invites local donors to contribute to one or all groups with a single canvass.

Hamiota Round Table Secures 4000 Grant for Community Blueprint

WINNIPEG The Hamiota Round Table will study securing the area’s economic environmental and social future after a 4000 Manitoba government grant. Rural Development Minister Len Derkach says the funds assist Hamiota RM and Town in creating a community blueprint. The program offers one time per capita grants matched by communities to form round tables and plan joint regional action.
